Third Friday of every month, 6-9pm, Donnelly Street closes and Mount Dora throws a block party. It’s called “Evening in the Park,” but everyone calls it Night Market.
Vendors set up under string lights: handmade jewelry, candles that smell like orange blossom, hot sauce with names that dare you. Food trucks post up by the railroad tracks — Cuban sandwiches, lobster rolls, and a waffle truck that runs a line all night. The wine walk is $20 and gets you a wristband and a plastic cup. Galleries stay open late and pop a bottle.
Bands play in Donnelly Park. One month it’s a 70s cover band, next it’s a jazz trio. Kids chase each other around the gazebo while parents pretend they’re just there for the art. Golf carts line up on 4th like a parking lot.
What makes it different from other street festivals: it’s locals. Tourist season helps, but this started as a way for year-rounders to see each other. You’ll run into your dentist, your realtor, and the guy who fixed your roof. Local tip: Park at the free lot by the library and walk 3 blocks. You’ll skip the traffic and hit the gelato shop on the way.
Rain or shine, it happens. If it storms, everyone crams under awnings and keeps drinking. That’s how you know it’s a real town event.
